BNP team to visit Rangamati landslide victims

– A BNP team will go to the landslide-hit Rangamati on Sunday to ‘stand by’ the victims by providing them with relief materials.

A high-profile BNP delegation, led by its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will visit Rangamati at Khaleda Zia’s directive, BNP chief’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB on Friday.

He said the BNP team will reach Chittagong by air on Sunday morning and then go to Rangamati by road.

Sayrul said the delegation will see for themselves the trial of devastation the landslides left behind and talked to the victims there.

They will also distribute relief materials and financial assistance among the victims on behalf of the party chairperson.

At least 154 people, including army personnel and children, were killed in landslides triggered by heavy rains in Bandarban, Chittagong, Rangamati and Cox’s Bazar districts on Monday and Tuesday.

Of them, 110 were killed in Rangamati alone.
