BNP to stage demonstration protesting arrest warrant against Tarique

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has decided to stage demonstration protesting issuance of warrant of arrest against senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman in a sedition case filed against him.According to decision, the party will stage demonstration in the city today and other places elsewhere in the country tomorrow.
BNP standing committee member and city BNP convenor Mirza Abbas announced the programme of Dhaka following a joint meeting of city unit of BNP yesterday.
Later, party vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu at a press conference announced the countrywide programme.
The BNP leader said they would observe the programme at city and district levels in protest against the issuance of the warrant of arrest in what he said a false case filed agant Tarique Rahman with a political motive.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal staged demonstration in the city and elsewhere in the country against the warrant of arrest against Tarique Rahman, who is now living in London, on health ground.
Shamsuzzaman Dudu expressed party’s deep concern over issuance of the warrant of arrest against the party senior vice chairman and demanded the warrant immediately.
He alleged that the Awami League led government is issuing the warrant of arrest by the court against BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman to tarnish his political image.
Earlier on September 29, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari issued the warrant of arrest against the BNP leader in a sedition case filed with Tejgaon police station.
BNP chairperson’s adviser Gholam Akbar Khandaker, Habibur Rahman Habib Imran Saleh Prince and Masud Ahmed Talukder, among others, were present at the press conference.
