BNP’s call for midterm election is mockery: Obaidul


Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said BNP’s call for midterm election is nothing other than mockery.Noting that Awami League has majority in Parliament, he said the call for midterm election is meaningless as there is no procession on the streets demanding snap polls.
The Minister made the remarks while talking to local journalists during his visit to the hill district.
He said the government has yet to take any decision to remove the grave of Ziaur Rahman from the Jatiya Sangsad area.
Obaidul said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very sincere to resolve the problems of Chittagong Hill Tracks.
Noting that the government is committed to implement the CHT Peace Accord completely he said the CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission was formed through promulgating an ordinance and the Commission has already started working.
State Minister for CHT affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, Chairman of Bandarban Hill District Council Kyaw Shwe Hla, Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Dilip Kumar Banik, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjit Kumar Ray, among others, were present.
