Police on Sunday evening recovered the body of a Bangladeshi cattle trader, who was allegedly tortured to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF), from Komorpur area along the bordering Ichhamoti River in Debhata upazila.
The deceased was identified as Rubel Hossain, son of Moslem Ali, a resident of Haroddoha village of Sadar upazila.Family members of the deceased said he went to India along with two other men to bring cattle to the country.
Ashadul, who went to India with Rubel, said the BSF members detained Rubel and Kawser Ali, the other associate of Rubel, while they were returning from India.
He alleged that the BSF members tortured Rubel to death and threw him in the river.
Lt Col Khalid Bin Yousuf, commanding officer of BGB battalion-38, said, the border guards recovered the body of Rubel from the Ichhamoti River in the evening and handed it over to Police.- UNB
