Indira Gandhi Culture Centre is organising a musical evening by Bulbul Mahalanobish at Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka at 6.30 pm on October 21.
The former Southeast University Chairperson for the Department of Bengali Language and Literature, Bulbul Mahalanobish is better known as a versatile singer and writer.
During Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971, Bulbul Mahalanobish was a prominent singer of Shwadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, where she also played the leading female character in “Jallader Darbar”, an extremely popular episodic radio play written by Kalyan Mitra. As a member of the “Shwadhin-Bangla Betar Kendra Music Squad”. She has performed in numerous locations, where the collected proceeds were presented to the Bangladesh Government.
Currently she is the Finance Secretary-Bangladesh National Poetry Council; General Secretary-Rabindra Academy; Vice President-Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Porishad; Member-Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangshad and Publication Secretary-Bangladesh-India Friendship Society. She has published nine books which include collections of rhymes, poems, travel stories, Liberation War memoirs, Literary Compositions etc
