Now maize is being sold at Taka 800 to Taka 900 per mound in local markets. Total 14,201 hectares have been brought under maize cultivation with the production target of 1,20,000 tonnes of maize, the sources added. The farmers of the district are also showing keen interest in low-cost maize cultivation as it requires less fertilizer and irrigation, said deputy director of DAE M Najrul Islam. -BSS, Panchagarh
