Businessman Manzur Elahi arrested for ‘militant financing’ 


Dhaka – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested a businessman, Manzur Elahi, from city’s Uttara last night for financing militant outfit Shaheed Hamza Brigade, official news agency BSS reported on Wednesday.Assistant Director (Media Wing) of RAB Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan confirmed the news and said that the businessman provided money to Moniruzzaman Masud, a leader of the new militant outfit.
The detained businessman was the owner of a readymade garment and gave Taka five lakhs to the militant outfit group for subversive activates in the country, Lieutenant Colonel Mitta Uddin Ahmed, a RAB official said.
The RAB team arrested Manzur Elahi from House-7, Road-13, Sector-14, Uttara under West Thana at about 10:00 pm last night.
He said Manzur transferred Taka four lakhs through Islami Bank at Nizamuddin Road Branch in Chittagong to Moniruzzaman Masud’s account in September 2014 along with cash Taka 80,000.
Ahmed also said that the businessman is now under RAB custody.
