CA announce Test squad for Bangladesh tour

Dhaka – Cricket Australia (CA) announced a 13-man squad on Friday to for a two-match Test series tour to Bangladesh in August.
Although the tour schedule is yet to be announced officially, Cricket Australia said in releasing the squad details that the team would arrive in Bangladesh on August 18 and play a two-day tour game in Fatullah from August 22. The two Tests will be held on August 27 in Dhaka and September 4 in Chittagong.Australia were supposed to tour Bangladesh in 2015 but after advice from the Federal Government, Cricket Australia had postponed the tour due to security concerns. Pat Howard, Cricket Australia’s executive general manager of team performance, said CA is currently satisfied with the security arrangements for the trip.”The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Bangladesh Government have provided satisfactory levels of assurance and security for this tour to proceed at this stage, and we’re very grateful to them for this,” Howard said.”We will continue to work with them (BCB) to finalise the plans alongside monitor advice from the government agencies and our own security advisors about the security risk,” Howard added.All-rounder Hilton Cartwright and pace bowler James Pattinson have been named in the 13-man squad.Injured Mitchell Starc, Steve O’Keefe, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Swepson, Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh and Jackson Bird who played for the side against India in February-March, have been axed from their squad.
