Dhaka – Bangladesh women chess team secured 3-1 points victory over Jordan in the 7th round of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad
at Baku, Azerbaijan on Friday.With this win, Bangladesh women team collected 8 match points and 16 games points to take 52nd slot in the Women Section among 140 nations,UNB News Agency Reported.
In the open section, Bangladesh men team conceded 1-3 defeat against a strong opponent Serbia to collect 7 match points and 16 game points after 7th round games. After this loss, Bangladesh men team placed 76th among 150 nations.In 7th round Women Section games, Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat WFM Boshra Alshaeby, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva defeated WIM Fuad Kamal Jamaliah and WIM Rani Hamid outplayed Razan Alshaeby. WIM Shamima Akter Liza lost to WFM Alattar Ghayda.In 7th round open section games, only GM Enamul Hossain Razib secured win against GM Ivanisevic Ivan. GM Ziaur Rahman, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin and GM Niaz Murshed conceded defeats against GM Markus Robert,GM Indjic Aleksandar and GM Markovic Miroslav respectively.In 8th round Women Section games, Bangladesh will play against Austria while Bangladesh men team to face South Korea in open section.The 8th round games were due to start at 5:00 pm (Bangladeshi time) on Saturday.
