Children to be fed Vitamin A in Jamalpur on April 25


The Health Department will make the National vitamin A plus campaign on April 25 to feed vitamin A capsule to 3, 19, 052 children in the district.Civil Surgeon Dr. Moshaerul Islam Ratan said this at a press conference at the conference room of the Administrative building of Jamalpur General Hospital today.He also disclosed their different preparations to make the campaign a success.The Civil Surgeon said, each of 33, 754 children aged from 6 months to 11 months will be administered a one lakh IU (International Unit) blue coloured vitamin A capsule while each of the 2, 85, 298 children aged from 12 months to 59 months will be fed a two lakh IU red coloured vitamin A capsule on the day in the district.The Civil Surgeon said to make the campaign a success a total of 1, 782 centers have been set up in the district.Of the total centers 1, 689 are permanent centers, 67 additional centers and 26 mobile centers.Vitamin A one of the most important micronutrients for child survival, growth and vision, he added.Deputy Civil Surgeon, Dr. Parikshit Kumar Parh, Health Education Officer Badrul Alam and UNICEF representative Md Shah Alam also address the press conference.BSS, Jamalpur
