Chittagong police officer shot at check point


An officer of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police was shot, when a search was underway at a checkpoint.The incident was reported Friday afternoon from the port city’s Panchlaish area.

Around 4pm, Sub Inspector Abdul Malek signalled two motorbikes to stop at the checkpoint in Sholoshohor.“As soon as the police approached to frisk them, they shot Malek,” Deputy Commissioner Abdul Warish told of the attackers have been held while the others managed to escape, leaving the motorbikes behind, he said, but could not provide any more details.The police officer is being treated with gunshot injuries on the leg at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
