City councillor among 62 BNP men sued in Comilla


Comilla, Feb 3 – Police filed a case against some 62 leaders and activists of BNP, including a councillor of Comilla City Corporation, early Saturday for ‘planning acts of sabotage’.The case was filed with Sadar Dakkhin Police Station against 32 named and 30 unnamed BNP men, said Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The accused include councillor from ward-21 of the city corporation Kazi Mahbubur Rahman, former councillor from ward 25 Khalilur Rahman Majumdar and president of Sadar Dakkhin upazila Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal VP Abdullah.
Earlier on Friday evening, police conducted a drive in Bijoypur High School area of the upazila and arrested 12 BNP leaders and activists for ‘planning subversive activities’ ahead of Thursday’s verdict against chief Khaleda Zia, claimed police.
The arrested were sent to jail on Saturday through a court, the OC added. – UNB
