Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police in a joint drive on Thursday arrested 10 people from Agrobhulat border area in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district in connection with the Wednesday’s clash over taking control of a cattle market.
BGB Goga camp commander Subeder Azizur Rhaman said a team of the border force and police jointly conducted a drive in the area and arrested 10 people at about 9:30 am.
Five people, including a BGB member, were injured in a clash between
two groups of the ruling Awami League over taking control of a cattle
market on Agrobhulat border in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on
Officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station Abdur Rahim Molla said
the clash ensued between supporters of AL leader Tabibar Rahman and
Juba League leader Aouros over taking control of Agrobhulat border
cattle market in the upazila at about 9:00 pm.
At one stage, a chase and counter-chase took place between the supporters of both the groups and they exploded some crude bombs.
Informed, BGB members rushed in, but the supporters of the both groups attacked the border force, triggering a clash, leaving five people including BGB member Shah Alam injured.
Later, police rushed in and fired five rounds of bullet to bring the situation under control.
Injured Shah Alam was rushed to a local private clinic.
