College student killed, 3 injured in clash over land at Pallabi


One College student was killed and three others injured during a clash over land dispute at North Kallshi of Pallabi in the city on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Abdur Rahman Chanchal, 26, a 1st year Commerce student of Banga Bandhu College of Mirpur-12, while the injured are Rajib Hossain, 28, Md Ali, 27, and Md Shahin, 30.Police quoting local people said one Joinuddin had a dispute with MA Awal, one of owner of Heavenly Property Ltd , over a piece of land located at Burirtek of North Kalshi in Mirpur-12.
Both group locked in clashes with sharp weapons over taking possession of the land at about 11:00 am., said Officer-in-Charge of Pallabi police station Ziauzzaman.
At least four people–Abdur Rahman Chanchal, 25, Rajib Hossail, 28, Md Ali and Shahin were severely injured in the clash. They were first rushed to the nearby Islami Bank Hospital and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Chanchal was declared dead at about 1:15 pm, the OC said.
Hospital sources said Chanchal was sitting beside a mobile servicing stall when the clash occurred. He was received fatal injuries during the clash.
Son of Havez Ali, he was residing at house-574 of Block-Ta in Mirpur-12.
Among the injured people, Shahin is a son of Joinuddin, who has been claiming the owner of the disputed land. – News Desk
