The two-day 2nd International Conference on Genocide and Mass Violence began at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday.
The DU Centre for Genocide Studies organised the conference in cooperation with the Cultural Affairs Ministry.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor addressed the opening session of the conference as the chief guest with DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
Former teacher of the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, India Prof Ashis Nandy delivered the keynote speech.
A large number of academicians, lawyers, researchers and human rights activists from home and abroad are participating in the conference.
