Court asks for DNA test of Sholakia ‘attacker’ Zahidul


Dhaka – A court in Kishoreganj on Wednesday asked the authorities concerned to conduct DNA test of Zahidul Haq Tanim, one of the suspected criminals who attacked police near Sholakia Eidgah, UNB news agency reported.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdus Salam Khan passed the order following a petition filed by the investigation officer of the case Mohammad Morshed Zaman.Talking to reporters, Morshed Zaman said the evidence collected from the spot and nearby places were earlier sent to Dhaka for DNA test. “That is why it is needed to conduct DNA test of Zahidul for matching the evidences,” he said.
On Tuesday, the same court sent Zahidul to jail after police produced him before the court on completion of his 10-day remand.
On July 10, a Kishoreganj court placed Zahidul on a 10-day remand.
Earlier on July 7, the eid day, at least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked at a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.
Police recovered two firearms, two local made weapons, two rounds of bullets and four magazines from the spot.
A case was filed against two people, including, Zahidul, in connection with the attack.
