Acting Judge of the court Jyoshri Samaddar fixed the date following a time petition submitted on behalf of the defence. However, the accused couple was not present in the court. The case was transferred to the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 from the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court (CMM) of Dhaka on January 12.
Earlier, Shafiqur Rahman, Investigating Officer of the case and also the Inspector (Investigation) of Mirpur Model Police Station, submitted the charge sheet to the CMM Court on December 29, last year.
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla granted bail to Jesmin Jahan on December 1 last year while on December 8 the High Court (HC) granted bail to Shahadat till March 31.
On September 13, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) suspended the pacer over the allegation.

Shahadat surrendered to the court two days after police arrested his wife Jesmin Jahan alias Nitya from one of her relative’s house at Malibagh in Dhaka.

On September 6, the domestic help, Happy, brought the allegation of torture by Shahadat and his wife. Later, a case was filed against the couple with Mirpur Model Police Station about the incident.
