The cover of a book “Chhotader Sheikh Hasina” written by Nazrul Islam, deputy press secretary to the Prime Minister, was unveiled at a function here on Saturday night.
Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela, US chapter, arranged the function at “Khamar Bari” at Jackson Heights with its President Dr M Kamal in the chair.
Author of the book, Nazrul Islam, attended the function as the chief guest, while eminent poet and writer Belal Beg was present as the main discussant.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General Omar Faruk, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Shaban Mahmud, Vice-President of Bangladesh Krishak League Badiuzzaman Badsha, journalist Nasimun Ara Nini and Agriculturist Dr Pradip Ranjan Kar spoke at the function, among others.
The speakers at the function, described Sheikh Hasina as a children-friendly prime minister, mentioning that her government has taken various steps for the welfare of future generation.
They also termed the publishing of the book on Sheikh Hasina as a time-befitting and thanked the writer for it.
The book would surely inspire the new generation to help know about Sheikh Hasina, the able daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, they said.
The speakers also urged the writer to translate the book into English so that the Bangladeshi children living abroad could read the book easily.
Genius Publication published the 32-page book, where the life and works of Sheikh Hasina as well as some rare photos on her have been placed, reports BSS.
