C’wealth Chess: Shakil shares top slot


Dhaka – Bangladeshi International Master Abu Sufian Shakil of Golden SC shared the top slot in the Commonwealth Chess
Championship along with 38 other players securing full two points after the 2nd round matches held at Waskaduwa in Sri Lanka on Monday.In the 2nd round match on Monday morning, Shakil beat Farnando JM Marlon of Sri Lanka.Earlier in the first round match on Sunday, he beat Abeysinghe HMH Janandani of Sri Lanka.In the 3rd round match on Monday afternoon, the Bangladesh chess player was scheduled to play against Looi Xin Hao of Malaysia.A total of 185 players from 10 countries, including 9 grandmasters, 2 women grandmasters, 6 international master and 4 women international masters, are taking part in the event.
