Damien Wright appointed U-19 cricket team’s head coach


Dhaka – Former Australian medium pacer Damien Geoffrey Wright has been appointed as the head coach of Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team until the next year’s ICC Under-19 World Cup.The 41-year-old former Tasmania seamer has a solid and full-blooded coaching career with the New Zealand team, Tasmania, Victoria, Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, after ending his playing career in 2011.He made his first-class debut in 1997-98 and went onto represent Australia A and several English counties, including Somerset and Sussex.Wright, in his new role, will be assisted by Abdul Karim Jewel, who is currently looking after the Bangladesh Under-19 training camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.Wright will arrive in Dhaka in July to oversee the Bangladesh U-19 side’s preparations, heading into the World Cup.UNB news agency
