Dhaka– The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a suspected member of Middle East-based militant outfit Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) from Badda area of the city on Tuesday night.The arrestee was identified as Nahid Hossen.
Tipped off, a team of the DB conducted a drive at Hossain Market area of Badda at around 9:35 pm and arrested Nahid, said DMP deputy commissioner (media) Muntasirul Islam.
The law enforcers arrested Nahid on charge of spreading propaganda for ISIS in the internet by using the name of ‘Jihadi John’, Muntasirul added.
Sources at the DB headquarters said during preliminary interrogation, the arrested, who is also a member of Islami Chhatra Shibir, revealed that he was involved in spreading provocative messages through a Facebook page named ‘Islamic State Dawla Al Islamia’ that has long been using IS’s logo.
Nahid also revealed that he had also been involved in spreading provocative messages through several other Facebook pages including ‘Khaled Bin Walid’ and ‘Army Captain at Caliphate’.
