DB Police has several names involved in Blogger Niloy killing

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has got several suspected names of banned Islamic outfit “Ansarullah Bangla Team” members, who might be involved in blogger Niladri Chaterjee alias Niloy murder.
Detained Sad Al Nahian and Masud Rana, two suspected active ‘members of banned Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team’, who are now being interrogated by DB police in connection with Niloy Killing, revealed the names to the detectives during interrogation, said Joint Commissioner (DB) Monirul Islam on Sunday.Talking to reporters at Rajarbagh Police Lines auditorium during a discussion meeting marking the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mojibur Rahman in the afternoon, Monirul Islam said Nahian and Rana disclosed names of several members of Ansarullah Bangla Team who might be involved in Niloy’s killing. Besides they also got names of several suspects involved in the killing, he added.
The Joint Commissioner (DB) said they are scrutinizing the names. Hopefully the killers will be arrested soon, he added.
However, the arrested duo are yet to confess about their involvement in the killing, Monir added.
Nahian was on bail on a separate charge of attempted murder over an attack on another blogger, Asif Mohiuddin, in 2013, while Rana was also arrested earlier in several cases.
A Dhaka court here on Friday placed Nahian and Rana on an eight-day remand each in connection with blogger Niladri Chaterjee alias Niloy’s murder.
Earlier, plainclothes DB police arrested the duo on August 13 from different areas in the city in connection with the murder.
On August 7, Niloy was hacked to death by unidentified assailants inside his fourth-floor flat at North Goran in the city. He was the fourth Bangladeshi so-called ‘atheist blogger’ killed so far this year.- UNB
