Democracy exiled, Khaleda says in Martyred Intellectuals Day message

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has alleged that the ruling party has exiled democracy and is running the country through the politics of vengeance.
The ruling quarters is undermining our democratic growth and national progress by indulging in politics of vengeance, she said in a message marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day Monday.Referring to the post-independence rule of Awami League, Khaleda said: “An evil force established one-party rule by destroying the country’s hard-earned democracy.”
“Now again, the country’s democracy is at stake. The evil force has exiled democracy today. It is weakening our hard-earned sovereignty and vanishing people’s democratic rights.”
Khaleda who is also the chief of the BNP-led 20-party alliance called upon the people and her party men to be united in their respective positions to work together for the sake of the country’s progress and prosperity.
