Dhaka – Demonstrations were staged at least at two public universities of Bangladesh in Rajshahi and Mymensingh against the government’s Public Service Commission for incorporating a provision that would allow zoology graduates also to apply for posts in the BSC (Fisheries) cadre.
BAU Correspondentwrite: Students of the fisheries faculty of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh on Monday staged demonstration protesting against the Bangladesh Public Service Commission’s (BPSC) decision to allow zoology department students to apply for the post of Deputy Assistant Director (Fisheries) in the 37th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) circulation.
They also brought out a protest procession which marched on the campus.
In the demonstration the agitating students said, only fisheries graduates are eligible for applying for this post not zoologists.
The fisheries sector of Bangladesh would lag behind if inexperienced people were appointed to these posts, they added.
Terming the decision a wrong one, they urged the authorities to withdraw their decision immediately otherwise they would go tougher movement.
Our RU Correspondent reporter from Rajshahi: Students of the Fisheries department of Rajshahi University (RU) protested the incorporation of Zoology as subject in Fisheries Cadre of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS)
They staged a sit-in-strike program at the premises of the “Shabash Bagladesh” of the University wearing black badges at 11.00am on Monday.
Students alleged that, previously in Fisheries Cadre of the BCS only students of the fisheries department were appointed but in 37th BCS the PSC has incorporated the Zoology as a subject for this cadre illogically.
Agitating students also said that, they might go to the tougher movement if their demand is not met.
