A Dhaka court on Sunday deferred recording the depositions of the case against 16 defendants in connection with Dandy Dying loan default amounting to Tk 45,59,37,295 to August 21. Judge Fatema Ferdous of Dhaka’s Money Loan Court-1 passed the order after hearing on a petition seeking time citing that a move was taken with the High Court Division challenging the legality of the case. Defendants’ lawyer Sanaullah Mia moved the petition.
Dandy Dying took a loan of Tk 13.14 crore from the Sonali Bank on May 9, 1993. On October 2, 2012, the bank filed the case against Tareque Rahman, late Arafat Rahman Koko and others as the defendants failed to repay the loan. -Court Correspondent
