Dhaka bar election held, results expected Thursday

Dhaka,Feb 28 – The two days’ voting in the Dhaka Bar Association (DBA) election for the session 2018-2019 ended wednesday   peacefully with enthusiasm.Of the 16,129 voters, 9,011 used their franchise to elect 54 representatives including President, Senior Vice-President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer and Senior Assistant General Secretary.Of the candidates, 27 are contesting from the Blue penal, belonging to BNP and Jamaat while other 27 lawyers are in the race from the White penal-supporting the ruling Awami League. Immediately after the election was over, the Election Commission led by Chief Election Commissioner advocate Khandaker Abdul Mannan decided to start counting the votes today at 2 pm.In the election of 2017-2018, of the 27 posts, the pro-BNP-Jamaat Blue penal won 21 posts including the posts of President and General Secretary, while the pro-Awami League-White penal won the remaining six posts.
