Dhaka – BangladehJamaat-e- Islami Dhaka city south Jamaat on Wednesday staged a demonstration over arrest and remand of its Ameer Maqbul Ahmad , Secretary General DrShafiqurRahman and nine others leaders.
Urging the city people to observe the day-long general strike on Thursday, the protesters brought out the procession atcity’s Malibag- Mouchak area on Wednesday morning.The speakers at the protest urged the countrymen to protest the arrest and remand of the leaders and to stand against the oppression, torture, and torment of AL government.
Besides, city working committee members ShamsurRahman, Kamal Hossain, city Shura member AminurRahman, MatiurRahman, MahbuburRahman, HafizurRahman, former central leader of Bangladesh IslamiChhatraShibirAshrafulAlamEmon, Shibir's Dhaka city east president SohelRanaMithu, Jamaatmotijheel secretary MutasimBillah, Ramnasouth secretary Abdus Sattar Suman, student leader Zubayer, among others, were present in the demonstration.
Dhaka City SouthJamaa at the protest programme extremely denounced the police and the ruling Awami League government for the unlawful and illegal detainment and remand of the city leaders demanding their immediate release.
Jamaat leaders demanded the release of their central Ameer Maqbul Ahmad, Nayebe Ameer Miah Golam Porwar, Secretary General Dr Shafiqur Rahman and seven others leaders remanded on Tuesday.
“Bangladesh Jamaat-e- Islami is a democratic and lawful political party. Jamaat runs its activities following country’s constitution, laws and rules. They said Jamaat leaders were arrested “unlawfully when they were holding an indoor meeting”.
“This [Awami League] government has been killing Jamaat leaders through execution after indicting them in false cases since it came to power, in a premeditated manner with a view to destroying the Jamaat leadership,” claimed Jamaat leaders. “Jamaat leaders are arrested today [Monday] as part of that plan.”
They said “The people of Bangladesh will not sit idle if the government does not release our central leaders immediately.” – Press release
