The month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2016, the 21st edition of the annual mega event, will begin in the city on January1. The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Ministry of Commerce will jointly host the event to be held at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, on the west side of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally open the international fair from the BICC on January 1, said an official here on Tuesday.
The event will showcase quality exportable products of Bangladesh to the visitors from home and abroad, organisers said.
The local producers in remote areas of rural Bangladesh who do not have financial strength to participate in International trade fair will have the opportunity to display their products to the international buyers at this fair, said the EPB.
Besides, the organisers said, the overseas participants will have opportunity to display their products for the consumers of Bangladesh where domestic market of consumer goods is expanding.
The foreign participants will also have the opportunity to display their state-of-the-art technology to the local producers and exporters.
Besides, the participants will be able to identify business contacts with the prospect of entering into subsequent business negotiations.
