“The rundown city roads are the examples of the government’s nature of development. Even after a short spell of rain, vehicular movement gets stuck across the city,” said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he further said, “A great disaster has hit the capital with the spread of mosquitoes as city dwellers are being affected with various types of viral fever. Dhaka now has become unfit for human habitation.”
The BNP leader alleged that the government has failed to arrest the continued price spiral of the essentials, maintain law and order and check extortion ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Sunday’s comment that people have no confidence in BNP, Rizvi said the MPs belonging to the Awami-led grand alliance told parliament the same day that the country’s 90 percent people are against the ruling party. “What will people believe in?’
He alleged that Hasina is now making such statements only to hush up her government’s misdeeds. “Awami League has kept people away from election by snatching their voting rights since it considers them enemies.”
Rizvi feared that there might have any conspiracy behind the Prime Minister’s remark about people and election.
He also alleged that the government has continued preventing their party leaders and activists from holding iftar parties at different parts of the country.
