Digitisation process creates employment, income scope


As a whole, the digitisation process had already created scope of employment and income generation in various ways including outsourcing, selling products through e-shop and offering different services everywhere in the country including the Union Digital Centres (UDCs), speakers at a discussion here said.They viewed internet is a global networking system which connecting millions of computers so there is no alternative to more expansion of the modern networking technology for further improvement of living and livelihood condition of people in the country.They were addressing the closing session of Digital Fair and Internet Week in Puthiya Upazila of the district yesterday afternoon. Upazila administration organized the fair in PN Girls High School playground with the vision of increasing enrolment in internet as well as promoting Internet based commodities and services across the Upazila.President of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food Ministry Abdul Wadud Dara, MP, addressed the session as chief guest with Md Muniruzzaman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, in the chair. The Chief Guest said the digital fair will inspire the people to change their lifestyle and economic progress of the country. He also urged the participants’ especially young generation to make them dedicated works force for building a digital Bangladesh.Terming the internet week as a milestone for the country which is being organized simultaneously at 487 upazilas across the country, Abdul Wadud said.To promote the use of ICT-based digital services, he said, the present government has begun its journey to establish digital Bangladesh by implementing vision-2021 and it is now a reality.He said over 5 crore people are now using the internet against 20 lakh in 2009, while 2,250 unions would come under fibre optic cable as the work in this regard is progressing under a digital connectivity project.The lawmaker mentioned that 3G network has been introduced in the country, while 4G network would also be launched to further strengthen networks and meet the demand of the internet and mobile users before 2017.He also said all concerned must remain aware so that there could be no social decadence with the ICT and internet misuse saying youths and children could be derailed with that.RAJSHAHI, Sept 11, 2015 (BSS)
