DMP inaugurates “Hello CT” app for city dwellers

Calling upon city dwellers to help the police with information about militants, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said the country will overcome the militancy problem with people’s united efforts.“The people of our country are very brotherly as they love each other. They don’t support militancy and extremism. So, militancy can’t exist here. The country will get rid of this menace if we all can tackle it together,” he said.
The minister came up with remarks while inaugurating a mobile application ‘Hello CT’ of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at its media centre.
The DMP mobile app was launched with a view to taking city dwellers support to have information about militant and criminal activities.
DMP officials said using the app, ‘Hello CT’, any person hiding his or her identity can send information, including photos and videos, about militancy and any other crimes and criminals.
Android phone users will be able to use the app initially. Later, it will be developed for other smartphone users.
The Home Minister urged the city dwellers to provide the police with information about militant kingpins, their cohorts, patrons, and their activities by using the app.
He said militancy emerged as part of a plot to destroy the country’s social harmony, stability and stop its progress and development activities.
Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque and DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah were, among others, present.
