Dr Mahjabin’s body exhumed for 2nd autopsy


The body of Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin Shama, who was found dead at her residence in the city’s Dhanmondi on November 13, was exhumed from Karbala Graveyard in Jessore district on Thursday noon 19 days after the burial.The body was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for re-autopsy after the exhumation at 12.00 noon.The body was exhumed this time following a murder complaint lodged by Engineer Nurul Islam, father of the deceased.The exhumation took place in presence of Dr Safayet Hossain and Dr Jesmin Sumaiya of the Forensic Department of Jessore Medical College Hospital, Ruhul Quddus, assistant superintendent of police of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Dhaka, , executive magistrate of Jessore Abdus Salam and Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Police Station.The re-autopsy has been ordered on the body of Dr Mahjabin, wife of Humayun Sultan Sadab, eldest son of Khan Tipu Sultan, Awami League leader and former lawmaker for Jessore-5, by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.The court of Magistrate Bikash Kumar Saha had instructed the deputy commissioner of Dhaka district to carry out the exhumation on hearing a plea by the deceased’s father on November 25. -UNB, Jessore
