Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique today urged the world leaders to come forward with helping hands and work together to protect the environment from pollution.
“We must protect our environment for existence of human beings”, he said as the chief guest while inaugurating a three-day training workshop at CARS Auditorium on DU campus.
DU Oceanography Department and the Environment Department of Bangladesh government are jointly organizing the workshop on “Sustainable Management of Marine Ecosystem and Acidification Monitoring”, said a DU press release here.
DU Oceanography Department Chairman Professor Dr Kawser Ahmed delivered the welcome speech at the inaugural session of the workshop while Director of the Environment Department Md. Alamgir addressed it as the special guest.
Professor Arefin stressed on the need for creating awareness among general people as well as young generation on environmental issues and eco system and called upon the field level young officers to play key role in this regard.
A total of 25 young officers from the Environment Department of the government are taking part in the workshop, reports BSS.
