Durga Puja celebration gains momentum in Jessore

A great of enthusiasm is now being noticed among members of the Hindu
community at differentplaces in eight upazilas of the district in
connection with the five-day Durga Puja, the biggest religious
festival of the Hindus, which begins on October 10.
Artisans across the district are now seen busy with making images of
the Goddess Durga. Preparations are going on in full swing for the
setting up of Puja mandaps at many places.
District Puja Udjapon Committee sources said at least 613 Puja mandaps
will be set up in the district this year as against 605 last year.
Of those, 129 mandaps will be set up in Sadar upazila, 117 in
Abhaynagar upazila, 84 in Monirampur upazila, 80 in Keshabpur upazila,
30 in Sarsha upazila, 48 in Jhikargachha upazila, 45 in Chaugachha
upazila and 80 in Bagherpara upazila.
District Puja Udjapon Committee President Ashim Kundu said the Hindu
temples in the town and upazilas are being tastefully decorated ahead
of the festival.
Jessore Deputy Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman said the district
administration has taken special security measures for ensuring a
safe, secured and peaceful celebration of the Durga Utsab.
