The government will take steps for arranging alterative jobs for the recent flashflood victims in haor areas alongside providing them with food support.
Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya came up with the announcement while exchanging views with flood-hit people at Balaganj Upazila Parishad in the district.
He directed the upazila administration to take immediate steps for ensuring alternative jobs for the flood-affected people.
The minister also urged the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) to give the victims all necessary support to plant new crops once the floodwater recedes.
Maya said the government will continue to provide food assistance to the badly affected and hardcore poor people of the haor regions under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme while give rice at Tk 10 to the generally affected people.
Mentioning that the flashflood caused by the onrush of water from hill damaged huge crops in the haor areas, he said the government will provide all-out assistance to the victims to recoup their losses.
