Earthquake panic injures 17 students at DU

At least eighteen students of Dhaka University (DU) were injured as panic gripped the residential area after a strong earthquake hit different parts of Bangladesh on early Monday.Panicked students of different halls of the university were injured when they rushed out of the buildings in a hurry and jumped down from the roof top during the quake struck at 5:05am Monday. The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital instantly.
Among the injure students, DU sergeant Jauhurul Hoque hall student Shoeb Mohammad Salman is in critical Condition. He jumped off from the five-storey hall building during the earthquake. Later, fellow students took him to DMCH. Two others – Iqbal and Arfat were also identified .
Besides, two students in Jasim uddin hall , 1 in Zia hall, 2 in Surya sen hall , 2 in Bangabandhu hall , 3 in Ekushe hall , 1 in Mohsin hall and 3 in Sahidullah hall.
However, some other students were reported minor injured over the incident, said DU proctor professor M Amzad Ali.
DU proctor said that the both the DMCH and DU medical center have been asked to give intensive medical care to the inured students.
