Educational institutions now ‘BCL offices’ alleges BNP

Dhaka: Strongly denouncing the attack on Sylhet college student Khadiza Akter reportedly by a BCL leader, BNP on Wednesday alleged that the country’s all educational institutions have been made ‘Chhatra League’s party offices’. UNB News Agency Reported.
In a statement, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “The entire country and all the educational institutions have also become a death valley due to continued terrorism, abduction, killing and extortion by the Chhatra League.”
He said the machete attack on Sylhet Govt Women’s College student Khadiza is only a partial scenario of continued anarchy by the ruling party student body at the country’s educational institutions.
The BNP leader also alleged that the general students at the educational institutions are being subjected to repression, rape, sexual harassment and killing by the ‘armed Chhatra League cadres’ as proper action against their misdeeds are not taken.
On Monday Khadiza, 23, a student of Sylhet Govt Women’s College, was stabbed allegedly by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit BCL leader Badrul Alam on her way home from college following the refusal of his proposal for having an affair with him.
Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rescued Khadiza and caught Badrul from the spot and handed him over to police after giving him a good thrashing.
“We don’t have suitable words to condemn the incident of hacking Khadiza with a machete,” Fakhrul said protesting the incident.
He demanded the government ensure exemplary punishment to the attacker.
The BNP secretary general wished early recovery of Khadiza who is undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in city in a critical condition.
