DHAKA – The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today upheld the verdict of High Court that ordered the eight footballers must have to play for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmandi Club. A bench of the Appellate Division headed by Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order after rejecting “leave to appeal’ petition of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).The eight footballers are: Mamunul Islam, Shahedul Alam, Raihan Hasan, Yamin Munna, Jamal Bhuiyan, Nasir, Sohel Rana and Alamgir Kabir Rana. Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh moved for the BFF while Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kazal appeared for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
Earlier on March 28 last, the High Court ordered that the eight footballers must have to play for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. It also issued a rule asking why the footballers will not be handed over to Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.The concerned lawyers said that the eight footballers took money in advance illegally from another club which was later returned to BFF.
