The Pir Shaheb of Charmonai, and Amer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Mufti Moulana Syed Rezaul Karim on Wednesday that his party would call rigorous movement including hartal soon of the government does not enact law to punish people committing blasphemy including former minister Latif Siddiqui.
Adressing the concluding grand rally of a 2-day road march organised by the IAB to press the demand at the Rangpur Eidgah Maidan the Ameer of IAB said that call for punishment of people committing blasphemy is no political demand. This a demand of people of all religions including Muslims. Provision for punishment of people for committing plasphemy was there is many Muslim and non-Muslim countries.The Pir Shaheb said if the demand was not considered with due emphasis after the present constitutional and peaceful movement, they would be left with no alternative but to take harsh programmes. The government will then be squarely responsible for any situation arising out of that, he warned.
Mufti Moulana Syed Rezaul Karim said, the Constitution provides for punishment of people speaking against some leaders. Those speaking against Islam, the Prophet (sm), Hajj and Tabig Jamaat would not be punished, is not acceptable. He said that the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had said before election that no activity that contravened the Qur’and and the Sunnah would be allowed in the country. But now it appears that conspiracies are ripe to wipe out Islam from this land.
The IAB Ameer was the flame of movement would gradually increase if there was not a turn around from the present path and if absolute trust and faith in Allah Almighty was not restored in the Constitution.
The grand rally, presided over by Moulana Khairul Islam, president, Rangpur city unit of IAB, was also addressed by its secretary general Moulana Yunus Ahmed, Prof. Ashraf Ali Akon, political adviser to the party, said an IAB press releaase.
