The Metropolitan Special Tribunal-5 of Dhaka on Sunday fixed June 6 to hear on charge framing against 29 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance including BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case filed on the charges of setting off bombs at Bangladesh Secretariat.Judge Ruhul Amin of the court set the latest date. But the court was scheduled to hear the case on Sunday but it had to adjourn the day’s proceedings as Mirza Fakhrul did not appear in the court yesterday.
His lawyer Joynul Abedin Mezbah filed a petition seeking adjournment of the proceedings of the case on Sunday and to set the new date after hearing on the plea.
The case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station against the leaders and activists over cocktail explosion outside the Secretariat in the capital on April 29, 2012 during the then opposition sponsored countrywide shutdown on April 29. 2012.
Later, on April 31,2012, Detective Branch Police Inspector Tapan Chandra Saha submitted the charge sheet of the case filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station in the capital. On May 31 of that year, police submitted the charge sheet to the court.
