Facebook will train 10,000 Bangladeshi youths on digital marketing under a `BoostYourBusiness’ programme over the next six months.
The Facebook authorities will provide the training to 10,000 IT-trained youths of Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of ICT Division.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Monday inaugurated a training workshop in this regard at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) auditorium.
“The social media has created a new dimension in mutual communication as well as marketing of products,” Palak said adding that leading brands and commercial companies, small and medium entrepreneurs and individuals are using the popular social media Facebook to grow their business, creating employment opportunities.
He said LICT project in partnership with Facebook will provide training to 10,000 youths on digital marketing and this training will help contribute to Bangladesh’s journey towards digital economy and building Digital Bangladesh.
Head of Programmes of Facebook South Asia Ritesh Mehta said through the launch of #BoostYourBusiness programme, the Facebook aims to equip SMEs of Bangladesh with the right skills needed to effectively reach out to new customers and expand their businesses.
“Small and medium enterprises are the backbones of most economies, and it’s certainly true for Bangladesh. The growth of SMEs will lead to economic growth of Bangladesh,” he said.
He added that the SME sector has a great opportunity and potential to create jobs. One important area where Facebook can help the SMEs of Bangladesh is to provide access to markets, both at home and abroad.
BCC Executive Director Swapan Kumar Sarker, LICT Project Director Rezaul Karim and LICT Component Team Leader Sami Ahmed were present. More than 300 small and medium entrepreneurs participated in the workshop.
