Fake stamps worth 18 crore seized, one held in city

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recovered huge quantity of fake stamps, included Judicial, non-judicial and revenue stamps, worth about Tk 18 crore and arrested one person from Lalkuthi Darus salam thana area on in the city on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, a special CID team led by ASP Ruhul Amin conducted twp separate drives at two houses of Darus Salam and recovered the fake stamps.The team also arrested Bulbul Islam in connection with the incident.
The CID team raided a house at c-125 of Lalkuthi in the early hours of Friday and recovered fake stamps worth about Tk 17.55 crore. They also arrested Bubul in connection with selling the fake stamps, said ASP of CID Ruhul Amin.
He said the team, later, conducted another drive at house C-158 (Prothom Colony) of Lalkuthi at about 7:30 am on Friday and recovered fake stamps worth about Tk 26.85 lakh
We are trying to arrest Showrav, the brother of Bubul, in connection with the recovery of the fake stamps, ASP Ruhul Amin said.
A case was filed with Darus salam police station in connection with the incident. – News Desk
