Five ‘militants’ surrender to Rab in Narsingdi

Narsingdi, May 21 – Five suspected militants, who were inside the house at Gabtali village in the sadar upazila, surrendered to Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Sunday morning.Director (media wing) of Rab headquarters Mufti Mahmud Khan said the five ‘militants’ surrendered to the law enforcers around 10 am.
Earlier in the day, Rab members informed the family members of the five suspected militants to identify them, said Mufti, adding that a Rab team has already started for Dhaka with the arrestees.
“A bomb disposal unit will now enter the house to find whether there is any arm or explosive there,” he added.
Mufti, however, didn’t disclose the names of the arrestees.
Rab members in association with local police cordoned off the house owned by one Moin Ahmed, a United Arab Emirate expatriate, suspecting the presence of militants there on Saturday afternoon.
Locals said three students rented the house last month. – UNB
