Five-tier security will be provided to ensure foolproof security at the ICC Under-19 World Cup’ 2016 venues in Bangladesh scheduled for January 27 to February 14.Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner M Asaduzzaman Mia came up with the remark after inspecting the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur Tuesday afternoon.He said all-out security measures have already been taken to avert any untoward incident during the ICC Under-19 World Cup’2016.
The DMP boss also said that strict security measure will be also provided at the team hotels as well as movement of players from hotels to venues.Replying to a question, the DMP Commissioner said they have no information of any kind of threat till date targeting ICC Under-19 World Cup.A total of 48 matches will be held in 19-day World Youth Cricket in eight venues of country’s four cities–Dhaka, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet.Defending champions South Africa will play hosts Bangladesh in the opening match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on January 27. The two semifinals and the final will be held at SBNCS.
However, prior to their main competition, all the participating teams will play two warm-up matches each in between January 22-25.
Sixteen teams, including nine Test playing nations, split in four groups will take part in the 11th edition of the event.
Group A: South Africa, Bangladesh, Scotland (Q2), Namibia (Q3)
Group B: Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan (Q1), Canada (Q4)
Group C: England, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Fiji (Q5)
Group D: Australia, India, New Zealand, Nepal (Q6).- (UNB)
