Flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport remained suspended for an hour on Friday after cancellation of a flight of Kolkata-bound Indian SpiceJet due to technical fault.
Sources at the airport said the flight of the Indian airlines carrying 78 passengers was scheduled to fly for Kolkata around 10:40 am.
When the aircraft was about to enter the runway from tarmac, smoke was seen coming out from the left wheel of landing gear. The pilot instantly aborted its take-off for safety reason, said Wahidur Rahman, deputy director (air traffic) at the airport.
Talking to UNB he said all of the passengers as well as the crew were evocated from the aircraft.
Later, the aircraft was taken to aircraft parking bay.
