Flights to, from Cox’s Bazar airport suspended


The authorities have decided to suspend flight service at Cox’s Bazar Airport for bad weather.The decision came from an emergency meeting of the local disaster management committee on Wednesday night.Acting Deputy Commissioner Anupom Saha presided over the meeting.Flight service will remain suspended till the situation comes to normal, said the DC.The educational institutions of the district were also announced closed at the meeting as the schools would be used as shelters.Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) also decided not to bring back the 159 Bangladeshi human trafficking victims, rescued in Myanmar, today, as per an earlier schedule.
BGB took the decision after a meeting with Myanmar’s Border Guard Police.The deep depression over the Northeast bay and adjoining Bangladesh coast moved slightly north-northeastwards over the same area and intensified into cyclonic storm, ‘Komen’ at night.Maritime ports of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar have been advised to keep hoisted danger signal no seven. -UNB, Cox’s Bazar
