Foreign envoys ‘discuss’ BD situation at farewell event

Dhaka – Diplomats stationed in Dhaka met in the city on Saturday to give farewell to three outgoing diplomats and informally ‘discussed’ Bangladesh’s current situation, UNB news agency reported.
They shared their concerns over recent militant attacks on a Dhaka restaurant and the Sholakia Eid congregation at the meeting, said a diplomatic source.Nearly 30 diplomats attended the event hosted by new Dean of Diplomatic Corps and Indonesian Ambassador in Dhaka Iwan Wiranata-atmadja at his place.
“Ambassadors and High Commissioners assembled as it was a farewell programme for three outgoing diplomats (Denmark, Vietnam and Pakistan),” an Ambassador who attended the event said.
The Indonesian Ambassador took over the charge of Dean of Diplomatic Corps as former Dean and Egyptian Ambassador Mahmoud Ezzat recently left Dhaka after completing his tenure.
The diplomats who attended the event greeted the new Dean of Diplomatic Corps in Dhaka, the sources said.
