French baroque music on Sunday at Shilpakala Academy

Dhaka, Feb 15 – Alliance Française de Dhaka will host a musical programme on French baroque music on Sunday, 17 February 2019 at 6.30 pm at National Theater (The main theatre hall) of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
French musical ensemble Son Ar Mein Consort from France and Asian University for Women Choir from Chittagong will perform the pieces of famous French composers Marc-Antoine Charpentier and François Couperin.
From 1650 to 1720, Versailles had become the capital of music in Europe under the patronage of the kings Louis XIV and Louis XV. Louis XIV was considering music as a symbol of his power and wanted to demonstrate his splendour by dint of composers and their musical works.
Son Ar Mein Consort consists of Alice Piérot and Camille Aubret on violin, Florent Marie on theorbo, Emmanuelle Huteau on basson, and Clotilde Lacroix on cello. For 10 years, French Son ar mein Consort has been organizing an important ‘Summer Festival’ and a musical season in countryside of West of France to reunite best French musicians and to create original musical programmes. All musicians are professionnal and specialized in ancient music.
