Dhaka, Feb 27 – French singer Ariana Vafadari’s musical performance, organised by Alliance Française, Dhaka, was held at Experimental Theatre Hall, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on 27 February Tuesday.
Asaduzzaman Noor, Minister of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as the chief guest and Marie-Annick Bourdin, Ambassador of France to Bangladesh also attended the program as the special guest.
French mezzo-soprano classical singer Ariana Vafadari recently performed at the famous Sacred Music Festival in Fès (Morocco) and in Paris at the Theatre de la Ville, the prestigious French concert hall dedicated to world music.
For the concert, Ariana Vafadari composed songs based on Gathas, mystic prayers of Zoroastrism, the ancient religion of Persia. The profound connection she feels with her Iranian roots has brought out remarkable renditions of 3,700-year-old Gathas. These prayers are surprisingly modern, exposing life, doubts and choices of man. Vafadari will perform her musical pieces accompanied by 3 French musicians playing oud, double bass and drums. – AF Dhaka press release
