Friend of Tonu`s brother back home


Comilla- Mizanur Rahman Sohag, friend of murdered Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu’s brother Anwar Hossain, returned home on Tuesday after 16 days of his going missing, unb news agency reported.
Khaleda Akhter, elder sister of Sohag, said his uncle found Sohag standing on a road in Nazira Bazar Sakura filing station area near their house around 6am while he went out for a morning walk. Then the uncle brought Sohag home.‘Sohag did not say anything about his disappearance,’ added Khaleda. Earlier on 27 March, Sohag, son of Nurul Islam, resident of Narayansar village of Burichong upazila, was picked up from his home by some people identifying themselves to be members of a law enforcement agency.
Later, a general diary was filed in this connection on March 30.
Sohag’s family members said after watching an interview of Tonu’s brother on a television channel, Sohag identified him as his friend.
‘Members of a law enforcement agency picked up his son as he (Sohag) protested against the incident,’ alleged Sohag’s father Nurul Islam.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, 19, a second year history student of Comilla Victoria College and a member of Victoria College Theatre, went missing on March 20, hours after she had gone out of her house at Comilla Mainamati Cantonment for private tuition.
Later, Tonu’s father Yaar Hossain found his daughter lying senseless with severe injuries in her body in a bush adjacent to their house.
She was then whisked off to Combined Military Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
The incident sparked off widespread protests across the country.
